Assistant Sommelier

As assistant sommelier, you are together with our Head Sommelier the wine expert of our restaurant, responsible for curating, managing, and presenting our wine list. You advise guests in selecting the perfect wine that complements their meal and personal taste preferences. You play a crucial role in creating an unforgettable dining experience through your extensive knowledge of wine and related services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Wine Selection and Management:

    • Curate and maintain the wine list, including selecting new wines in collaboration with the Head Sommelier and the Head Chef.
    • Manage the wine inventory, ensuring optimal storage and rotation of wines.
    • Maintain relationships with wine suppliers and producers.
  • Guest Advice and Service:

    • Advise guests on wine choices based on their preferences and the dishes they have selected.
    • Present and serve wine according to the highest service and etiquette standards.
    • Organize and conduct wine tastings for guests, providing detailed information about the wines.
  • Training and Education:

    • Train the service team on wine knowledge and service to ensure they can adequately advise guests in your absence.
    • Stay informed about trends and developments in the wine industry through courses, tastings, and professional literature.
  • Hospitality and Experience:

    • Ensure a high level of hospitality and contribute to a refined and personalized dining experience for every guest.
    • Creatively contribute to special events and themed wine evenings at the restaurant.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a sommelier or in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
  • Certified sommelier (WSET Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Extensive knowledge of wine types, wine regions, and wine and food pairings.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both in a team and independently.
  • Passion for wine and gastronomy, with a customer-oriented and service-driven attitude.
  • Competence in managing a wine cellar and maintaining wine administration.
